JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — In only their second year as a team, The Scottsboro BassCats Fishing Team won the 2020 Alabama BASS Nation High School State Tournament Championship. The tournament was held Friday and Saturday on Lake Guntersville. 

The BassCats won the state title in the six-man team division with a total weight of 67.28. The team is coached by Cully Nelson. 

Four members of the Scottsboro BASSCATS team qualified for Nationals that will be held on  October 18-24 at Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn.: Connor McLaughlin/Barclay Butler (3rd at state), Tanner Barclay/AJ Widgeon (30th at state), Kolby Clark/Landon Grider (11th at state), Grant West/Cameron Thompson (9th at state)

“We are super proud of this accomplishment and can’t thank our boat captains enough for the many hours the put in to make our team successful also a special thanks to all of our sponsors,” stated Coach Cully Nelson.
