TANNER, Ala. — The undefeated North Sand Mountain Bisons (4-0, 3-0) defeated the Tanner Rattlers, 55-14 in a Class 2A, Region 7 matchup.
In the first quarter of the game, Lake Bell connected with Derek Bearden for the 20-yard touchdown. The Bisons then cashed in on a 16-yard touchdown by Fernando Luna to take the 14-0 lead over the Rattlers. Tanner snuck in a touchdown to narrow the Bison lead to 14-7. On the kickoff, Bearden bulldozed down the field for the 85-yard Bison touchdown. On the next possession, Tanner scored, to make the score 21-14. Late in the first quarter, Bell connected with Luna for the 62-yard touchdown to take the 27-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
It was all North Sand Mountain for the remainder of the game. Luna scored on a 6-yard dash into the endzone. Bearden scored his second touchdown of the night after connecting with Bell, to bring the score to 42-14 at the half. Coming back from the half, North Sand Mountain added two more touchdowns for the 55-14 win over Tanner.
Bell finished the night, going 7-of-8, for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Bell also had a fumble recovery on defense. Luna led the Bisons, rushing for 65 yards on 11 carries.
The North Sand Mountain Bisons will host the Cedar Bluff Tigers (1-3) in a non-conference game on Friday night.
