Decatur Man Arrested in Scottsboro

A Decatur man was arrested in Scottsboro on drug and stolen property charges, according to the Scottsboro Police Department. 

Scottsboro Police Sgt. Ryan Putman says the arrest took place when officers pulled over a vehicle Saturday at 12:44 a.m. in the 19000 block of U.S. 72 during a traffic stop. 

The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Jathan Hunter Harris, was found in possession of 12 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and property that had been reported stolen in Cobb County, GA.

The charges brought against Harris were second-degree receiving stolen property, second-degree promoting prison contraband, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

Harris was released on a $23,000 bond from the Jackson County Jail on Sunday.
