Defensive Battle for the Lions

TANNER, Ala.– The Tanner Rattlers defeated the Section Lions 20-14, in Class 2A, Region 7 play on Friday night.

The first half was a defensive battle between both teams. At the half, the game was scoreless.

The game clock malfunctioned and time was kept on the field for the second half. Section scored on a 50-yard run by Drake McCutchen. The extra point attempt failed but gave the Lions the 6-0 lead in the third. Tanner answered back with a scamper into the endzone to take the 7-6 lead. McCutchen scored again for the Section Lions on a 20-yard stampede into the endzone. The Lions successfully went for two to take the 14-7 lead over the Rattlers at the end of the third quarter.

Tanner scored twice more in the fourth quarter for the 20-14 win against the Section Lions.

Section will host the North Sand Mountain Bison on Friday night.
