Hornets Shutout the Panthers

IDER, Ala.– In a Thursday season opener, the Ider Hornets shut out the Woodville Panthers, 53-0. 

Early in the first quarter, Hunter Robinson intercepted the ball for a Hornet touchdown.  The point-after attempt was good,  giving the Ider Hornets the early 7-0 lead.  

Robinson scored with 1:14 remaining in the first. The extra point attempt by Ben Smith was good, giving the Hornets the 14-0 advantage. 

With  7:31 remaining in the first half, Robinson returned the punt for another Hornet touchdown.  The extra point attempt failed, giving Ider the 20-0. Dillion Grant made the connection to Jessie Massey in the end zone with 2:13 remaining in the first half, to take the  27-0 lead into the half. 

On the first Hornets first possession of the second half, Robinson sailed in for another Hornet Touchdown.  The PAT attempt by Smith was good, giving the Hornets the 34-0 lead with 10:22 remaining in the third quarter.  Dillion Grant scored on a quarterback sneak with 7:19 remaining in the third, to increase the Hornet domination to 41-0.

With 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, Ben Smith scored on a long run for the Hornets.  The PAT by Smith was successful, making the score 48-0. 

The Woodville Panthers fumbled on the last play and was returned for a touchdown by the Hornets, making the final score, 53-0
