At 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, Macklin Baptist Church will host a Relay For Life WalkAThon. Proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society (ACS) to help with cancer research.

There will be concessions at the event, and the money from this will also go to cancer research.

The WalkAThon took place annually in Jackson County for many years, but when the Covid-19 pandemic started, the WalkAThon was paused and hasn’t returned since.

Melinda Wooden of Macklin Baptist Church contacted the ACS about Jackson County’s local WalkAThon. When she learned it was not returning, she took steps with her church and the ACS to ensure the WalkAThon would remain in Jackson County.

This led to Macklin Baptist Church hosting the event.
