Rattlers Removed

SECTION, Ala. — The Section Lions defeated the Tanner Rattlers, 34-21 in Class 2A, Region 7 play on Friday night. 

Section took the early 6-0 lead on a 1-yard touchdown by Cameron Summerford with 8:42 remaining in the first quarter.  The Rattlers answered back with a 54-yard touchdown run, less than a minute later.  The extra point was good, giving Tanner the 7-6 lead.  

Section capitalized on an interception by Drake McCutchen to regain the 14-7 lead.  Tanner tied the game with 4:42 remaining in the first half.  Section scored on the last play of the half, on a 30-yard touchdown by Jace Holcomb, to go intermission with the 21-14 advantage.  

The Lions took the 28-14 lead  in the third quarter with a 20-yard touchdown by J.R. Walker.  

After a blocked punt by Clayton Murphee, McCutchen scored the final points for the Section Lions on a 9-yard stampede into the endzone.  Tanner added the final touchdown of the night on a 28-yard run, to make the final score 34-21.

Section will travel to take on the North Sand Mountain Bison, in region play on Friday night.
