Scottsboro Falls in Season Opener

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — The Scottsboro Wildcats fell to the Madison Academy Mustangs, 30-6 on their season opener Friday night. 

Midway through the first quarter, the Mustangs scored on a 28-yard field goal.  The Mustangs added two more touchdowns before the half, one being on a 40-yard pass connection, and another on a quarterback keeper.  The Mustangs carried the 17-0 lead into intermission. 

The Mustangs gained the 30-0 advantage over the Wildcats with scores after a 40-yard fumble recovery and a 4-yard dash into the endzone in the third quarter.

Scottsboro put their only points on the board, with 9:04 remaining in the game, on a 35-yard interception return by Gavin McCrary.  

Scottsboro will open Class 6A Region 7 play on Friday as they travel to face the defending state champions, the Oxford Yellow Jackets.
