Scottsboro Interim Police Chief Arrested

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — Major Ron Latimer, Interim Police Chief for the City of Scottsboro, has been arrested for operating a vessel under the influence in Marshall County.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Latimer was booked into the jail Saturday night and released on bond Sunday morning.

Latimer was appointed interim police chief following the retirement of Ralph Dawe. He has been with the Scottsboro Police Department since 1992.

UPDATE, The City of Scottsboro released the following statement:

This past weekend, there was an incident involving Interim Police Chief Ron Latimer on Lake Guntersville. Due to the nature of this incident, Interim Chief Latimer will be placed on paid administrative leave pending a review of all facts and information. Captain Scott Matthews will be handling any administrative duties until further notice. We thank you for your patience during this time.
