JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — Alabama has reported its first death from COVID-19.
In a statement made by the Jackson County Commission, Commission Chairman Tim Guffey stated the person was a part-time county employee and offered sympathy to the person’s family. Guffey stated the person did not work in a department that had regular contact with the public.
“From the date the part-time employee last worked, the expected incubation period has now expired,” stated Guffey.
The death is not currently confirmed by the Alabama Department of Public Health, but at the time of press, Alabama had 386 cases of novel coronavirus statewide.
