PISGAH, Ala. — The Section Lions defeated the Pisgah Eagles, 25-14 on Friday night, to secure their first playoff berth since 2007.
Section scored two touchdowns in the first half, taking the 12-0 advantage into halftime. Section put points on the scoreboard with 5:03 remaining in the first, on a 1-yard score by Jase Holcomb. The point-after attempt failed but gave the Lions the 6-0 advantage. Pisgah moved the ball to the Section 26 yard line, before fumbling the ball. With 1:30 remaining in the second quarter, Drake McCutchen brought it in from 3-yards out to take the 12-0 lead.
With 6:53 remaining in the third quarter, Holcomb scored his second touchdown of the night for Section, on a 2-yard shuffle into the endzone, to make the score 18-0. Pisgah marched down the field on a 52-yard drive. With 3:35 remaining in the third, Parker Law brought it in for the Eagles on a 1-yard dash into the endzone, making the score 18-7.
Section drove the ball down the field for 65 yards. J.R. Walker scored on a 26-yard run for the Lions, with 10:09 remaining in the game, to take the 25-14 lead. Pisgah drove down the field for 47-yards. Mason Holcomb connected with Law with a 31-yard pass. Fox Tinker brought it in from 2-yards out, scoring the final touchdown of the night, making the final score, 25-14.
J.R. Walker led the Section Lions with 192 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown.
Fox Tinker led the Pisgah Eagles with 90 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown.
The Section Lions will travel to take on Hanceville, Friday night. The Pisgah Eagles will be on the road also, traveling to take on the Tanner Rattlers.
