Scottsboro Beats DAR in Preseason Meeting

On Friday, Scottsboro hosted DAR for a preseason game. The contest was originally planned to be held at DAR High School, however, due to field renovations, was move to Trammell Stadium.

The first half of the game was a varsity portion, resulting in a 12-0 Scottsboro victory. The second half was for the junior varsity to gain some experience. It resulted in a 27-0 Scottsboro win.

Scottsboro opened with a 75-yard, nine-play march down the field, ultimately leading to an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jake Jones to Thomas Stewart.

Thomas Rackler gave Scottsboro their next points from a six-yard touchdown run on the next possession.

Fullback Keenan Alvarez finished the game with an impressive 96 yards on 14 carries. However, the Scottsboro defense was the big story of the game.

Scottsboro held DAR’s varsity offense to only 39 total yards and just four first downs for the half. Scottsboro forced one turnover, an interception by Druw Smith.

The junior varsity portion was dominated by Scottsboro as well. The Wildcats’ defense held DAR to zero first downs.

Scottsboro will open the regular season Friday, August 19 at home against Fort Payne.
