JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — The Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County (Alabama) needs your help to complete the Park in honor of all veterans, especially those who have died in service to our country and defense of our freedoms. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to complete the Park and have the dedication ceremony in November of this year. Started in 2014, the value of the installed work at the Park is $600,000. All funding has come from donations of cash, material, volunteer labor, and donated services. Remaining work includes the refurbishment of a Cobra helicopter and Nike-Ajax missile and construction of the concrete display pads and support structures (the Cobra will be mounted 10’ in the air), construction of additional walkways, additional electrical lighting for the two new displays, parking lot paving, and final sitework/landscaping.
Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. All donors of over $500 will have their name on the Donors Panel. Donors of over $1,000 toward the refurbishment and installation of the Cobra or Nike missile will have their names on a separate plaque at the Cobra or missile location. Other donations of over $5,000 will have their name on the side of one of the Armed Forces Service Monuments (of their choice). Other donor options are also available.
